Dear Intern
Dear Intern,
This past Wednesday, Leisure Time Unlimited hosted the Hotel and Motel Restaurant Supply Show. The vendors lined alongside one another in the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, equipped with their displays and products to be sold. Although I was supposed to be in attendance, I had to tend to a family emergency. Unfortunately I had to text Whitney the morning of the event to notify her that I would not be in attendance.
I felt horrible that I was forced to make that decision, nevertheless family is priority in this situation. Fortunately, my family is now safe. I was able to assist this member of my family by facing the issue head-on, without judgement. Good thing is that we are one in attendance to the next day, which we all appreciate much more than we once did.
The role which was passed down to me, was to "help with registration." I do know that they had a few students from Coastal volunteer their time to the event, however, this student was not in attendance. I'm sure the event was fantastic, as it was one of many. Last week, he ladies of Leisure Time Unlimited and I, detangled the final details of the event. It was clear time, effort and energy to see ints completion was well invested.
I received a message from Whitney, regarding that she was eager to know when my next meeting with them would be, insisting a conversation about my timeliness would be discussed. I expect to clarify this family emergency with her this Wednesday.
Knowing that I am a quarter into my last semester as an undergraduate is intense, yet humbling.
I must stay consistent in my course, study much longer for my Accounting course, and stick to the schedule, with as little faults as possible. Networking and future planning should be next on my to-do list.
However, first things first is this conversation with Whitney. I will be honest with her and musn't forget to emphasize I will be increasing time with the company to complete my time log.
This week as I anticipate the next event and conversation ensure to stay your course, its a marathon, not a sprint.
Always,
Jess, the "intern"
