Dear Intern
Dear Intern,
I currently sit in Kimble library where I recollect my thoughts regarding the day Ive had with Leisure Time Unlimited. To update my progress with the company thus far, I have accumulated over 50 hours thus far, yet and still in need of 70+ hours by the last week in April. After speaking with my supervisor, we created a game plan together that would allow for me to obtain the required hours while ensuring that I gain the necessary experience as an intern. I hope to navigate throughout the upcoming semesters, as smoothly as possible.
This week I learned that by using the mistakes I make along the way I can accomplish the goal at hand much more efficiently. By ignoring the noise and solely focused on the directions at hand, I can readily interact and produce the quality production expected of me. Meeting the standard is great, but exceeding the standard is the goal.
I learned that seeing the future is a partial skill that the women at Leisure Time Unlimited use to prepare well in advance for a successful event. Being resourceful along with holding each other accountable is dire to their company. This week I also prepared an Excel document for the first time in my life, which organized the sections of research my supervisor handed to me.
As we continue to organize the warehouse, more props, linens and backdrops are situated neatly for the next event. I'm unsure if I wrote this in any pervious posts, however we have been rearranging and organizing the warehouse located across the street from the office. This warehouse is filled with props, costumes, tools, paint, furniture, trophies, decor, linens, centerpieces, glitter, flags, chair covers, chair ties and any and every holiday decoration created by man and women. This warehouse stores some of the props that Mayra uses to present the very decor for the event she assists.
I'm content with my progress as a young woman becoming a young professional. For the remainder of the semester, Whitney and I have decided that coming to LTU twice a week on Wednesday and Fridays from 9-5 PM would be best for me to accomplish the hourly goal. April is also filled with events that I eagerly look forward to attending.
Until next time,
Always,
Jessica Gelibert
